XC 2023: Week 5 Update

XC 2023:  Week 5 Update

This week is going to a REALLY HOT WEEK!  Weather.com says we have Upper 90 degree temps Monday – Thursday.  Not to mention humidity which could crank up the “FEELS LIKE… “ temperature!  So we are going to try and avoid the heat as much as we can.

Please read everything so that everyone knows the plan. I know its a lot, but I want to make sure we are all set.

Snack Box: Thank you to Debbie Ellinghaus (Griffin’s mom) and Susan Chagrin (Sam’s Mom)

    • All food items need to be brought in a grocery bag and given to either Debbie or Griffin.  They will be in charge of sending the snack box to each meet.
    • All drinks (Water and Gatorade) need to be given to either Susan or Sam.  They will be in charge of water and Gatorade making it to the meets.
    • Please send these donations in early this week so they can get organized and ready for the meet on September 9th at Centennial.
    • Families: Please Sign up an item or two and it will cover the entire season.

Team Travel Trip is scheduled for September 30th – October 1st. Here is Tentative Itinerary.

    • The cost is tentatively $150.
      • We will provide subs from Pepper Jacks for Lunch on Saturday.
      • Dinner will be at the food trucks, bring a few dollars for food.
      • Breakfast will be provided by the hotel on Sunday morning.
      • Bring Snacks of your choice!
    • We want everyone to attend! This trip is a blast and I promise you will have a great time!  I do not want money to be an issue.  If it is, please reach out to me.
    • Please let me know if there are any issues that you foresee with attending the trip.

Weekly Schedule (Workout Schedule)

Monday:

PRACTICE:  8:00am – 10:30am @ Coach Rogers House

9716 Riverside Circle, Ellicott City, MD 21042

Drop off and Pick-up will be at Coach Rogers House.

 

Breakfast/MOVIE:  After practice, we will put on a movie and have breakfast at the House.

We will plan on this from 10:30am – 12:30pm.

Bring a change of clothes so you can change after practice.

NOTE:  We have a dog so if you are allergic, please be prepared.

 

Simply ask that you bring the following:

What to bring:

A – EG: Bagels and condiments (I have lots of Peanut Butter)

EL – LO:  Muffins/Donuts/Breakfast Snacks

Ma – ST:  Fruit (Bananas, Oranges, grapes, etc)

Sw – Z:  Gatorade/water/soda/Juice

For breakfast we will have the above items along with Eggs, Bacon and Pancakes from Bob Evans.

 

The Next three days (Tuesday – Thursday) are going to be very hot and I am expecting that the county will either cancel practices or limit practice time.  So below we are making the following suggestions.  You can also see the recommendations on the workout schedule. 

Tuesday:

We are recommending that athletes get up and run before school.

3:10pm – 4:30pm @ Reservoir

If you get your run in before school and post to Strava, you do not have to attend practice.

If you want to get in part of your run and the come to practice for a shorter run after school, that is also good.  But your morning portion of the run, must be posted to strava.

 

Wednesday:

We are recommending that athletes get up and run before school.

3:10pm – 4:45pm

I gave specific breakdowns for morning run and afternoon runs.

If you get your run in before school and post to Strava, you do not have to attend practice.

If you want to get in part of your run and the come to practice for a shorter run after school, that is also good.  But your morning portion of the run, must be posted to strava.

 

Thursday:

We are recommending that athletes get up and run before school.

Friday:

Team Pictures at Practice.  Athletes will need to bring their uniform and their picture packet.  I will be sending out an online order form once I get it from Coach Lewis.

3:10pm – 5:15pm @ Reservoir

 

6:00pm – 8:00pm:

Pasta Dinner at Josh McDerment’s.

Saturday:  Eagle Invite (Meet Information)

-  Arrive to Centennial by 7:45am.

-  Look for Orange Tent on the Tennis Courts.

Course Map with Team Areas:   Walk down the path between the tennis courts and the building.  Look for the ORANGE Tent inside the tennis courts.  Feel Free to bring a folding chair so you can relax when not running or supporting your teammates.
