Weekly Update, Part 2 – August 31

Here are a few topics that we discussed with the Athletes today:

  • Running shoes are just that, running shoes.  Our runners should only run in their running shoes.  They should not wear them to school, mow the grass, go to the mall, etc.  This will preserve the life of the shoe and provide the maximum amount of cushion to the runner. 
  • The new/updated team schedule is posted on the website.  CLICK HERE
  • This weekend, we have our first meet.  Athletes are required to have a certain number of days of practice, returning athletes are required to have a minimum summer mileage and returning athletes are required to complete a summer running log (strava).  Failure to log the minimum number of days between August 19 and Sept 4, or to hit the required mileage or maintain a running log means that they will not compete.  HOWEVER, All athletes are required to attend the meet to support their teammates.  The athletes that are not running will run at the meet to get in their required practice prior to the start of the races.

Practice is questionable tomorrow due to the weather.  We will make a call around 1:30pm and send out a text message. 

But here is a reminder of the remainder of the this week’s schedule: 

Wednesday:  Practice 2:30pm – 4:30pm

Thursday:  Practice 2:30pm – 5:00pm (Team pictures – see below)

Friday:  Practice 5:30am to 6:45am (athletes will shower and change at school)

Saturday:  We have a meet (details forth coming)
