Reservoir High School had an incredible showing at the 3A State Indoor Track & Field Championships! Both teams competed well and set the stage for an exciting spring season.
Femi Fekoya ran 6.47s and Gavin Brown ran 6.57s in the 55m Dash. Both athletes made the 55m Dash final—Reservoir’s the only team with two finalists! Femi finished 4th overall and Gavin finished 6th overall. Earlier this season, Femi set the school record at 6.41s which ranks him as the 59th fastest 55m runner in the country.
Jason Smith sprinted to third place in the 300m with a blazing 35.48s. Just a few weeks ago, Jason ran a phenomenal 35.23 to break the school record in the 300m dash.
Griffin Ellinghaus crushed a personal best in the 3200m at 10:05.
Freshman, Shea O’Brien pole vaulted a personal best jump of 10ft to finish third at the state meet. Shea is the #1 freshman in the state of Maryland and is the 15th-ranked freshman in the nation! Teammates Hannah McDerment jumped 9ft 6in and Joanna Manela jumped 8ft 6in, tying her PR also soared in the pole vault. Hannah, jumped 10ft 3in at the County Championships to break the school record just a few weeks ago.
The girls 4x200m relay—Dara Akinsanya, Kiley Okechukwu, Gabby Parrish, and Jamison Smith—clocked 1:46.34 for fifth and the fourth fastest time in school history.
To cap off the night, the boys 4x400m team shattered the school record by 3 seconds with a blazing 3:25.46. They are the third fastest public school in the state and their time ranks them 82nd nationally! By the way, the also broke the ALL Time Howard County Indoor Track & Field 4x400m record!
