Last night at the Prince George Sports and Learning Complex, the Gators raced hard on the track and fought the good fight in the field! Lots to be proud of!
Field Events:
High Jump:
Shakur Adewale jumped 5ft 6in and that is a new personal best mark. He finished 7th overall.
Janelle Laughner jumped a 6in personal best mark for 4ft 6in!
Long Jump:
Israel Kelani had a massive jump of 20ft 11.50 inches and finished 5th overall. New personal best mark. He is ranked as the 23rd best long jumper in the state.
Jamison Smith jumped a Personal best of 16ft 8.75 in and finished 6th overall. She is ranked 30th in the state of Maryland.
Pole Vault:
Luc Le tied is PR with a jump of 8ft and finished 6th overall.
Stephen Oyewole jumped 7f 6in and finished 8th overall.
Joanna Manela jumped a season best mark of 7ft 6in and finished 5th.
Hannah McDerment is your POLE VAULT QUEEN... The Howard County Champion! She jumped 10ft, only 1in off her PR.
Shot Put:
Alim Busari waited to the last throw, but jumped into a scoring position with a throw of 38ft 4.25in. He finished 8th. Just short of his personal best throw.
Romy Fotso Kuiate has a massive 4ft personal best throw. He qualifed to finals and showing big improvement! He threw 37ft!
Hannah McDerment threw 26ft 3in to finish 7th.
Eunice Nguena threw a personal best of 21ft 3in.
Triple Jump:
Femi Kayode jumped 37ft 6.5in, only 1 in off his personal best jump. He finished 7th.
Vincent Nguyen jumped 41ft 4in, only a few inches off of his personal best and he finished 3rd!
TRACK Events:
Relays:
Girls 4 x 400m relay: Kiley Okechukwu, Moyo Akinmla, Kaniyah Ervin, Gabby Parrish finished 8th overall with a season best time of 4:35. This group of young ladies has a lot more to show you in the future!
Boys 4 x 400m Relay: Drew Cline, Daniel Abodunrin, Kevin Udenkwo and Fatai Sule finished only 3s out of a medal position. They finished 5th with a time of 3:43.
Girls 4 x 200m Relay: Kiley Okechukwu, Dara Akinsanya, Jamison Smith, Kaniyah Ervin, ran a season best time of 1:38.62, ranked #30 in the state. We are much better than this ranking and time shows! They have more in the tank! They finished 4th overall.
Boys 4 x 200m Relay: Femi Fekoya, Jason Smith, Cruz Tsabang, Daniel Abodunrin ran a great time of 1:32.99 and finished 2nd overall. They ran well and we also have more in the tank!
Boys 4 x 800m Relay: Evan Hooks, Adeniyi Adegbuyi, Colin Poon, Adam Hunt, ran a season best time of 9:01 and we finished 7th overall.
Girls 4 x 800m Relay: Celeste Martin, Scarlett Guenin, Ela Muniz, Amelia Bachman ran a the #32 best time in the State and this has to be the biggest surprise. Thye ran so well!
TRACK Events:
Individual Events:
55m Dash:
Iyona Brown and Jamison Smith qualified to finals (Top 8) with times of 7.52 and 7.53 respectivcely. Both personal best times.
In the finals Iyona ran 7.51 (another PR) and finished 6th and Jamison ran 7.58 and finished 7th.
Femi Fekyoa and Jason Smith qualified to the finals. Femi ran 6.59 (PR and a Maryland #34) and Jason ran 6.71. Cruz Tsabang ran a personal best time of 6.82. Just off his PR. In the finals, Jason ran 6.70 for 6th place, but FEMI FEKOYA... A NEW Maryland #19 and a US Rank of #99, wins the 55m DASH with a time of 6.54s. This is the 4th fastest time in school history.
55m Hurdles:
Kevin Udenkwo runs a personal best time of 8.97 and finished 7th overall. Huge improvement with only his second race back!
Chris Hochstein ran 9.81s which is more than a full second of improvement!
300m Dash:
Dara Akinsanya ran a personal best time of 44.77s.
Jason Smith ran a personal best time of 36.89s and finished 5th overall.
500m Dash:
Kaniyah Ervin ran 1:24.22 for 7th place. She has the school record of 1:20.64. So we know there is more left to give!
Moyo Akinmola ran a personal best time of 1:31.09.
Drew Cline ran a personal best time of 1:11.57.
800m Run:
Evan Hooks ran 2:08.38 for 8th place.
Adeniyi Adegbuyi ran a personal best time of 2:14.37.
1600m Run:
Jackson Pascarello, Jack Waltman and Micheal Drummond all ran personal best times. 4:56, 4:59 and 5:09 respectively. Great job to these guys.
Scarlett Guenin ran a season best time of 5:47! She is making a great come back!
3200m Run:
Connor Walsh and Griffin Ellinghaus attacked the 3200m and came way with personal best times! 10:48 and 10:51.
Celeste Martin and Ella Linera both ran personal best times of 12:51 and 12:52. They finished 7th and 8th respectively.
Ela Muniz ran a season best time of 12:10.85 which is a new Maryland #48 mark and she finished 4th overall.
The team is back in action on Feb 4 at the Regional Championships!
