Athletes of the Meet

  • Each of the major meets we like to recognize 4 – 5 athletes for being AWESOME! That could be running a really fast time, Personal best effort, or other amazing feats!
  • For the Eagle Invite we wanted to recognize the following 5 athletes
  • Celeste Martin: She had a great big PR, but also ran the 8th fastest time (20:05) in RHS History for 3 miles!  Way to go Celeste!
  • Saif Khalid: He ran the two mile time trial at 8:59 per mile average. On Saturday, he ran 7:55 average, a minute per mile improvement over 3 miles!  He was also faster at the Eagle Invite in comparison to Top of the Hill (a faster course)!
  • Ben Shiferaw: He ran a 48s personals best time!  He ran about 13s faster per mile at Eagle than he did for the 2 mile Time Trial.  He was integral in the OPEN Boys 2nd place team finish!
  • Adeniyi Adegbuyi: First XC Race and breaks 19 minutes for 3 miles!  Way to go Adeniyi!  He was 5th overall in the boys OPEN race and helped the boys finish 2nd overall in the Open division.  18:59 has earned him on spot in the Varsity 7!
  • Colin Poon: He ran a that eclipses all of his previous personal best times!  Currently his 3 mile PR of 17:33 has him 24th on the ALL TIME XC List for 3 miles.

Senior Banners:

This is an email from the Photographer.  We wanted to put out the basic plan/idea for the Senior Banners.  She is currently working on a few dates for us.  We will get more information soon.

Dear Senior Athlete and Family –

Congratulations on your Senior Year. Thank you or Allowing me to capture one of your senior moments For you.  Here are all of the details for your Senior Banner photo shoot.

Please be prompt to your session. If you are late to your session, there is a chance I may not be able to shoot everyone as I often have sessions back to back.

As a team, decide on which uniform you are wearing.  **Note: If you are choosing to do the senior team at the bottom of the banner, you may choose to wear one uniform in the team shot and one for your main banner pose.  Please make sure your entire team is in agreement BEFORE arriving and that you have all of your uniform pieces with you.

You will have at least one full body shot so please make sure you have the appropriate shoes and socks as well.

Bring props with you that are part of your sport.  For INSTANCE, soccer should bring a soccer ball and the goalie should bring gloves and goalie shirt, baseball should bring gloves, a baseball, a bat, etc….  You only need to bring one of each items as you are all photographed individually, but you may bring your own item if that is what you want to be in your banner shot.

Come prepared with ideas for your main pose.

Carlisle Invite (Sept 27):

This is a great Invitational and a wonderful spectator course.  Located at Carlisle HS.  Here is a description of the Course.

The Travis Trail remains exactly 5000 meters in length. It is clearly marked with signs throughout. The course is entirely mowed grass and offers a mixture of flat and hill running. The start offers open, unobstructed running for several hundred meters with excellent mobility throughout the entire course. The course is runnable even in most extremely adverse weather conditions as evidenced in 2018! It provides an excellent surface for spikes or flats. It is also an excellent spectator course and offers easy race visibility for well over 4000 of 5000 meters. Recent changes over the past several years have only opened up even MORE of the course to be easily watched. The course has been the site of NCAA regional and national cross country finals. It has been described by an out-of-state coach from a nationally ranked team as one of the top high school courses in the United States.

This event will be an all day affair.  Athletes will just need to bring Money for Lunch.  We will stop to get lunch at a LOCAL Mall so kids can access the FOOD COURT and Socialize for a bit.  I will provide an itinerary early next week but here is a General Plan:

o   6:00am Departure

o   9:15am:  Races Start

o   12:30pm -2:00pm – Depart Course (Depends on Awards)

Great American Invite (Oct 3 - 4):

Its going to be a great trip!  42 of the 48 athletes are in attendance!  Love it when the Majority of the team can make these events!
