XC 2023: Week 8 Update
This weekend we should have run at the Bull Run Invitational, which is the home course of the State Championship Meet. Our team captains put a star around this weekend as an opportunity to preview the state meet course and get the experience of racing the course. I know we can’t control the weather, but it doesn’t mean we can’t be frustrated. The kids adjusted to the plan, and they had a great week of training.
Team Trip:
The cost of the team trip will be $150. The cost does cover Saturday’s Lunch, Charter Bus, Hotel, Entry Fee, and additional trip snacks. Team Fantasy:
This has been an exciting season so far! So many different approaches and winners! Week 4 of Team Fantasy will be at the NYS Night Time Showcase. Don’t forget to pick your team. Weekly Schedule (Workout Schedule)
Monday: NO SCHOOL, NO OFFICIAL PRACTICE
Athletes need to post their run to Strava by the end of the day
Objective: Long Run with a Fartlek
Tuesday: 3:00pm – 4:45pm @ RHS
Objective: Easy Run
Wednesday: MEET AT OAKLAND MILLS
Objective: Tempo workout
As a reminder, we try to keep race efforts to a minimum and try to keep them focused on race efforts for the larger invitational style meets. Since we are expected/required to attend the League Meets, we will be performing a workout during the race. Our Kids will be given a specific pace to run for the duration of the race and they are to remain in their training groups. Some will go to the track for additional work following the race. All athletes will cool down after their workout and they will be dismissed.
If you wish to leave after your race, please make sure you send an email and check out with a coach.
As I understand it, the “race” will begin at 6:15pm at Oakland Mills. We have discussed that all runners will start and run together.
A bus will be provided at 5:00pm by ZUM to transport us from Reservoir to Oakland Mills and back.
Thursday: 3:00pm – 4:45pm @ RHS
Objective: Intervals on the track or Hills
Friday: 3:00pm – 4:30pm @ RHS
Objective: Easy Run and final preparations for New York.
Saturday:
Report to the school by 10:45am. Please do not be late.
Bus will depart at 11:00am.
Sunday:
We will call when we are about 45 minutes away from the school. Please be sure to be at the school so that all athletes have a ride home. Approximately 12:00pm.
