XC 2023: Week 2 Update

Week 2 Summary:  Cross Country 2023

First and foremost, the coaching staff has been very impressed with the efforts and attitudes through these first few days!  Keep up the hard work and stay focused on the small things.

Here are a few small things we want Athletes to remember to help their bodies recover:

  • Hydration throughout the entire day. Water, Water, Water!
  • Make sure you are eating three solid meals a day and don’t be afraid to snack! Your body will crave calories as your start to run more.  FEED THE BEAST!!
  • We all know that sleep during the summer is underrated, but when it comes to recovery, sleep is very important.  Get to bed at a decent hour and make sure you are aiming for at least 8 hours of sleep.

Please be sure to make sure all paperwork is completed online.  Please reference my Season Opener Email with Paperwork and who has been cleared.  FIRST EMAIL OF THE SEASON

Here is our Summary of Events for this Week (Workout Schedule):

Monday:

Practice 8:00am – 10:00am @ Reservoir

Tuesday:

Practice 8:00am – 10:30am @ Reservoir (UPDATED Aug 14 @ 3:20pm)

Team Day at Feet First.  This is an easy opportunity to support the team by shopping at Feet First.  Every dollar spent during the team day, helps support the team with a donation back to the program.  We feel that all athletes should start the season off with a new pair of running shoes.  These shoes are dedicated solely to running.  Racing spikes are something we highly encourage.  We will talk with the athletes on Monday and Tuesday at practice about them.  In short, if XC is something your athlete seriously wants to pursue, racing shoes should be a part of the athlete’s racing uniform.

How it works at Feet First?

-Simply Identify yourself as a member/friend/family of the Reservoir XC Team and you will get our team discount.
- This is good for Families, Friends, and especially athletes.
- This is a great time to get new running shoes for the season.
- This is a great time to get racing spikes for the season.
- This is a great time to get socks, running shorts, running shirts, sports bras, headbands, etc.
Wednesday:

NO PRACTICE.  Athletes are expected to run on their own and post to Strava prior to 10:00am.  We will tell the athletes what they need to run on Monday and Tuesday.  We are doing this so that athletes don’t have to worry about transportation to and from Reservoir and then back to Reservoir for the Beaver Dam Trip.
