Day 1: Indoor Track & Field Meeting Notes

1.      Pre-Season Paperwork Handout:  CLICK HERE

2.      Paperwork.  Make sure your paperwork is complete

a.     How to Upload?

b.     CHECK YOUR STATUS:  Are you good to go?

3.      Practice.

a.      Practice is required and mandatory every day.  We practice Monday – Friday and most Saturdays.  Typically, practice is 2:45pm – 4:30pm, Monday – Friday and 8:00am – 10:00am on Saturdays.

Special NOTE:  For the Sprinters/Throwers/Hurdlers/Jumpers.  If the temperatures are to cold or the weather conditions are not safe for the designed workout, we will move our practice inside.  If we do that, Practice will start at 3:00pm.  I will send out a text message around 1:45 – 2:00pm to make students aware. 

b.      If you are going to miss practice, you must put it in writing either via text message or email. 

c.       Thanksgiving Week:  There is no scheduled practice.  Students are expected to practice on their own and follow a the posted practice schedule

4.      Required Parent Meetings.  There are two required parent meetings on Monday, November 21st @ 7:00pm and Tuesday, November 29th.  These meetings will be virtual.

6.      Pole Vault:  If you are interested in Pole Vault.  Folks that might consider pole vault:

a.      Those …

                                                     i.     with a gymnastics background
                                                    ii.     that like doing flips off the diving board
                                                  iii.     that have No fear
                                                  iv.     that have Good Upper Body Strength (or willing to work on the upper body strength)

b.      Need this form:  Pole Vault Permission Form

c.       Pole Vault training will take place on Tuesdays and Thursdays from 4:00pm – 5:30pm at River Hill High School.  You must self-transport or carpool with a teammate.

7.       Time Trials vs. Try Outs.

On Monday, November 28 and Tuesday, November 29 we will have our Team Time Trials.  There are two primary reasons for doing the time trials. 

a.      We use these results to help give us a baseline for the student-athletes to show improvement and to help with setting goal paces and projected paces for workouts. 

b.      We will also use these results as a way to determine who is going to which meets at the beginning of the season. 

Special NOTE:  If the team exceeds 150 athletes, then we will use the time trial to evaluate and determine who remains on the team.
